The sporting world without rivalries would be like bread without butter…some of the most well known athletic contentions are between the likes of Federer & Nadal, Rangers & Celtic, Muhammad Ali & Joe Frazier and England & Germany. However, arguably one of the most notorious and long running rivalries is between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

As the two largest cities in Spain, these clubs are the most successful and influential football clubs in the country. Dating back to the 1930s, this rivalry is one of the longest known to football.

For the first time, and for one day only,  Camiral will prize veterans away from their pitches and onto the fairway for the annual Barcelona VS Real Madrid Golf and Padel tournament.

Over 40 high profile athletes will compete in the infamous challenge playing the testing world-class Stadium Course in a Ryder Cup style tournament. Some of the greatest former players from both teams will take part including Barcelona’s legendary striker Hristo Stoichkov, Txiki Begiristain and Eusebio Sacristán and Madrid’s Santiago Cañizares and Fernando Morientes to name just a few.

Although this rivalry is played out away from the football pitch, it is bound to be every bit as thrilling and competitive with the top two players awarded membership at Camiral!

Competitors will enjoy wine tasting, delicious meals and a prize giving ceremony as well as playing one of Spain’s best golf courses.
Watch out for some great footage of the event, held at Camiral on 25th November 2010, coming to www.lifeatpga.com soon.
