As if Camiral isn’t reason enough to visit Catalonia, the nearby city of Barcelona is kick starting its summer season with some spectacular events. Whether you are vehicle fanatic, gig groupie or culture vulture, Barcelona’s array of events will not fail to impress.

 Sitges Rally, 20-22 March, Barcelona

This world famous rally for vintage cars draws car enthusiasts from around the globe, to ooooh and aaaaah at the incredible motors, some of which predate 1924. The cars travel in procession from Barcelona’s Sant Jaume Square to Sitges to the beat of the cheering crowd dressed head to toe in belle époque outfits.

 

 

The Carnival in Barcelona, 3-9 March

For traditional culture? The Carnival in Barcelona  is a whirlwind of colourful dancing, tortilla throwing, plenty of eating and drinking, all culminating in La Gran Rua de Carnaval – a parade of colourful floats marching down the carnival route. This festival of fun is perfectly placed for some serious indulgence before those long hard 46 days of lent. 

 

Primavera, 26-28 May, Barcelona

If you are looking for something a little more modern in the entertainment department what about a little music festival, known as, ‘Primavera’? The festival runs from the 26-28th of May at the Parc de Fòrum, the open air venue right by the sea, with bands such as The Flaming Lips, Grinderman, Animal Collective and Pulp to name just a few.
