We know how much you all enjoyed our interview with the Lagula architects, so here at LifeatPGA we thought we would bring you an interview with renowned Irish architects, De Blacam and Meagher.

How would you describe your architectural style?
Achieving quality and simplicity through the use of beautiful, natural materials. Products such as oak, white limestone, granite, slate, glass and naturally pigmented paints give a permanence and significance to a building, while the introduction of light gives a feeling of space and harmony with natural surroundings.

What was your motivation in choosing the La Selva neighbourhood at Camiral?
The location of these plots and the surrounding topography are exceptional to work with. The elevated slope on which these homes are being built allows for spectacular South-facing views extending from the fairways of the 2009 Spanish Open course to the Montseny mountains and beyond. We have created an L-shaped design for the homes in order to maximise the feeling of light and space whilst framing the view from different perspectives.

Could you talk us through the products you have used for your La Selva properties?
We have used natural products with a particular focus on glass to enhance the views from all angles and promote luxury, contemporary living. Full-length sliding glass walls feature throughout the properties, along with large terraces often linking the bedrooms to the infinity pool. We have also included local natural limestone floors, solid core wooden doors and marble or granite countertops.

In the book Architects Today by Rattenbury, Bevan and Long, you are called “the godfathers of contemporary Irish architecture”. Is this something you would agree with?
We have been very lucky to work with a number of significant buildings in Ireland and promoting contemporary architecture in the country is hugely important to us. We were thrilled to receive the RIAI (Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland) Gold Medal for our redevelopment of the student library in Cork and have also been fortunate enough to receive accolades for a number of projects we did at Trinity College Dublin. In 2010, we had the opportunity to showcase Irish architecture at the prestigious International Architecture Biennale in Venice.

Why did you decide to work with Camiral?
Camiral is one of the very few top-flight golf courses in Southern Europe with property for sale and they are revolutionising luxury golf course living. We are thrilled to be part of it and saw huge potential for the luxury homes that are being built here.

To see an example of their work, check out their spectacular show villa which was unveiled at Camiral at the beginning of the summer.
