Ribera del Duero, Jerez de la Frontera, La Rioja – just some of the well known wine regions in Spain, but did you know that Catalonia boasts an array of fantastic vineyards?
We have covered gastronomy in Catalonia, so we thought it was about time we brought you some wine related stories from the region. Spanish wines are some of the best in the world and with over 2.9 million acres of vineyards, this makes Spain the most widely planted wine producing nation and the 3rd largest wine producer in the world.
One of the best regions to explore is Costa Daurada, just a half an hour’s drive south of Barcelona. Within 100km of this region, you can pass through Spain’s most admired wine vineyards – Priorat. Like many world-class wine regions the secret here is spectacular terroir and the dedication from the region’s wine producers – many are more than happy for you to stop by and try their much prided wines.
The Montsant region hosts many wineries, click here for a full list you can visit. This region covers 2,000 acres of wild mountains and consists of 50 bodegas (vineyards).
