As the world’s best golfers set their sights on the 112th U.S Open Championship, The Olympic Club in San Francisco is making the final preparations to host this very important event in the PGA European Tour calendar.

Returning to The Olympic Club for the fifth time, this competition, considered to be ‘Golf’s Toughest Test’, will take place from the 14th to the 17th June, and will see the best of the best battle it out both physically and mentally on the world renowned Lake Course.

This historic course, found just to the south of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge, provides golfers with the chance to prove exactly what they’re made of. The challenging narrow, tree-lined fairways and small, well bunkered greens make it extremely difficult to predict this tournament’s outcome.

With fourteen different players winning the last fourteen majors, it really is set to be an exhilarating competition, and it may also bring a few surprises along the way.

One of the 52 groups to take to the course will be made up of the current top three players in the world. Defending champion Rory McIlroy will join Luke Donald and Lee Westwood as they each battle it out for that ultimate top spot.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will join the 2012 Masters Winner Bubba Watson, with Woods and Mickelson being paired together again for the first time since Woods won the U.S. Open in 2008. Another group also sure to be worth a watch will be Ernie Els, Geoff Ogilvy and Angel Cabrera, all former winners of the competition who will also be teeing off together.
