Driven by growing the game of golf and encouraging new comers to play, PGA Catalunya Resort has brought the American initiative TEE IT FORWARD to Spain’s shores. A concept promoted by both the PGA and the USGA, and supported by one of the most accomplished professional golfers of all time, Jack Nicklaus, TEE IT FORWARD encourages all golfers to play the course at a length that is aligned with their average driving distance. Golfers can speed up play by utilizing tees that provide the greatest playability and enjoyment. “This initiative was spearheaded in the US and has proven very popular,” commented Miguel Girbes, Director of golf at PGA Catalunya Resort. “Playing from forward tees enables amateur golfers to play the course at the same relative distance as a touring professional would over 18 holes. The playing field is therefore leveled, giving golfers the opportunity to play from distances that are properly aligned with their abilities and providing them with an experience that will produce more enjoyment. “With the ultimate goal of elevating golfers’ desire to come back and play even more golf, the philosophy and practice behind TEE IT FORWARD fits perfectly with PGA Catalunya Resort’s ethos and drive to grow the game of golf,” added Miguel Girbes.
