How long have you worked at Camiral Resort?
I joined Camiral in September 2009, shortly after it hosted the Spanish Open.
How has it changed since then?
It has changed a lot since I first joined. At that stage, there were two great courses and a hotel.Today, we’ve got all the ingredients to becoming a major resort. In 2009, we were implementing the finishing touches of the venue’s infrastructure: our residential developments. We now have three show villas, 15 of semi-detached houses, several apartments and a state-of-the-art residential club.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
There are always new things to do, always new projects to work on. For example, we have recently been named Spain’s number one course by Top 100 Golf Courses, which has created a number of new programmes and activities to work on. One thing’s for sure, you never get bored, as it’s impossible to stop. You’re always busy. You also get to meet so many interesting and special people – I love my job.
Which is your favourite hole at Camiral Resort?
Number nine on the Stadium Course (427-metre Par-4). It’s an incredible hole and the perfect finish to the front nine. You have to hit a great drive to be in the right position to attack the green with your second shot. Even if you achieve that you have an incredible second shot into the green and then you have to contend with a two-tier sloping green.
What’s been your favourite memory of working at Camiral Resort?
Hosting the European Tour’s Qualifying School Final. There is so much riding on that event for so many golfers and everything surrounding the event is fantastic.
What is your favourite meal in the clubhouse?
I do love the Squid Risotto from the main menu.
